The IPD-Work ("Individual-participant-data meta-analysis of working populations") Consortium
The overarching aim of the IPD-work project is to obtain reliable information on the effects of psychosocial work-related factors on chronic diseases, disability and mortality in specific employee groups, such as those with low-income job, pre-existing disease or risk behaviours, as well as those with healthy lifestyles and favourable work organisation. A total of 17 European cohort studies from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France and the UK (n = 160,000) participate in the consortium.
This project will build a unique empirical resource to determine what kind of psychosocial factors, for whom, and in what circumstances increase disease risk and to develop new evidence-based prevention policies for prevention. We expect that this pan-European project will be able to provide specific OSH recommendations to identify employee groups particularly vulnerale for the adverse health effects os psychosocial risk factors at work and to implement good practices in order to minimise the damaging consequences of stressful work environment, both for the individual employee and the workplace.
This programme will also lead to the creation of the largest highly-characterised dataset on psychosocial factors at work and health as well as a confluence of expertise unique in the world.
